Built by "Honest John" Pethick in 1863, The Duke of Cornwall Hotel is housed in a classical-gothic building that is part of Plymouth’s architectural heritage and has been lovely maintained by its private owners. The 72 guestrooms can be accessed via the sweeping Grade II-listed stairway or the charming vintage elevator. Each spacious, comfortable room is equipped with free broadband internet access, satellite TV, tea and coffee making facilities, hairdryer, trouser press and direct-dial phone.
Beautifully appointed with sparkling chandeliers, the hotel’s restaurant has received both AA Rosette and RAC Blue Riband awards. Its menu focuses on fresh West-Country farm and game produce, as well as catch-of-the day fish.
The hotel’s atmospheric lounge is a warm and inviting area in which to enjoy aperitifs or morning coffee. There are also two stylish bars and an extensive wine and cocktail list to lift the spirits.
